kedrodasosA stunning and famous lagoon in Crete lies 76 km southwest of Chania and is called Elafonisi.

Although the name means deer island, be sure you will not see any deer walking on the island. The beach has warm shallow waters and you can walk around to discover the beautiful bays formed. The sand is white and in many places a pale pink color due to the thousands of shells that have been crushed. Going down to the beach, the panoramic image will remind you of exotic island with turquoise waters.

Driving one km west of Elafonisos you will find a beach full of cedars, the Kedrodasos (Cedar forest). The trees are very fragile and require care from holidaymakers as this area is protected by Natura 2000. The beach is secluded and is not organised and is considered as one of the last paradises in Europe.
